Minimum Number of Board Meetings

The minimum number of board meetings that must be held each year is generally set forth in the bylaws. For most associations, meetings are held monthly. However, if the governing documents are silent, board meetings must be held at least quarterly so directors can review the association's financial documents as required by both the Civil Code and the California Corporations Code.

The legal requirement for at least quarterly meetings will override any provision in the governing documents that may require fewer board meetings.
